Multi Coloured Nails – The indecisive girls fashion fix

Lately i've been noticing the rise of the multi coloured nails. Now don't get me wrong I often notice trends popping up every now and again but I have learnt the hard way that it is sometimes best to let these trends pass you by on their way to style town. For example the headband come flower clip combo that seemed to be everywhere, it consisted of an artificial flower glued onto an elastic headband which now when I think back was actually not very complicated but when I wondered in to Accessorize on my lunch I decided that I had to have one and by having one I would some how become some pixie, bohemian style icon. Skip 4 hours to me trying it on in my bedroom mirror only to discover I actually looked like an Easter egg or worse a disheveled nursery child! No I learnt then that it may look good on the girl sitting next to you on the bus but the likely hood is you will look like a fool!

So you can imagine when I saw the new nail trend I acknowledged it with approval then quickly did nothing to recreate it on myself. It wasn't until I was painstakingly trying to decide which nail color to wear when my boyfriend asked why I just didn't wear them all. It was like a child being told to just eat all the pick an mix, why not, knock yourself out......so I did and played it safe with just pink and blue. The next night I progressed onto purple, orange and pink and I fear it wont stop there! by the end of the week I will have a different color for each nail.

Some of my favorites that I've seen so far are:

Obviously the lovely Lauren Conrad with the two tone look!

The fab Caggie Dunlop from Made in Chelsea with pastel color

Pixie Lott with these lovely bright pinkies!

So needless to say I think multi coloured nails will be around for a while to come. My advice is have some fun and this way you get to be indecisive and spoilt all at once! : ) x

Lady Gaga MACs up

It seems any cosmetic brand that wants to be noticed has to have a celebrity endorse their products. With the market booming it is tough to get noticed and celebrity names can get you that! Chanel had Keira, Gucci got Rhianna and now MAC has landed the biggest star there is…… GAGA! Lady Gaga is promoting a new lipstick and lip gloss range inspired by her Bad Romance alter ego. At £13.50 it isn’t cheep but is attractively packaged, and if the advertising campaign is anything to go by its definately dripping with style!

Launched under the marque Viva Glam with all proceeds going to Lady Gaga’s Viva Glam HIV/AIDs campaign. For more info on the cause visit the site http://www.vivaglam.com/

(Lady Gaga Mac Make Up Endorsement)

Cyndi Lauper has also been involved in the campaign!

H&M – How Much Sorry??

Due to the fact that I am saving for a holiday, a house and to pay back my credit card I’ve not really been shopping in a while and the main reason for this is it’s too hard to walk away when I find something I love! This is exactly what happened when I allowed myself to purchase a gorgeous denim jacket from H&M (my new favourite shop for cheap, but amazing clothes!) see for yourself http://www.hm.com/gb/

The plan to walk in buy my jacket and walk out failed miserably when I glanced at the rail next to me while queuing for the till (I knew as soon as I done it I was making a huge mistake!) I was going strong until a passer by asked for the time and I became distracted..... that was it I caved and saw the cutest summer dress and my first find of the season!

I picked out my size and handed my card to the cashier! In my defence this was a month ago and I am yet to step foot in H&M again, well a quick glance on Saturday hardly counts! I am slightly obsessed with their website and have found some great finds for my holiday. I though it only fair to share this with you happy shopping!!

Style by Lauren Conrad x

I knew I shouldn't have done it......its almost time for bed and if I sleep now I'll get my 8 hours but instead I find myself reaching for the latest Lauren Conrad book that has been on my window sill for the past few days. My younger sister received it as a Christmas present from her friend, and from the moment she brought it home I've been eager to sneak a peak..... My admiration for LC came after my first ever viewing of The Hills. Many people are critical of the show that made her a star, no one more than my boyfriend who is forced to partake in my Hills obsession. I however own all the DVD's and still watch the repeats on MTV Catch up weekends. As a Lauren Conrad fan I refused to watch the last two seasons when the narration was taken over by Kristin Cavallari and Lauren's last episode is still my favorite of them all!

So there you have it my guilty pleasure is laid bare.......... Back to my reason for this post. My sister had read Lauren's new book 'Style' and passed it on to me to read, reaffirming what I already knew of how great it is. So it has remained on my window sill for the past few days until that opportunity of being read in one sitting (after all how can I stop once I start)

When I started this blog I had hundreds of ideas of what to write about, what to post and pass on. Then I couldn't find the words that I wanted to write, I had hundreds of posts buzzing about my head but frustratingly unable to articulate them!?? Then tonight as I opened 'Style' and I read the first 6 pages I felt the kick, the recognizable urge to write. I don't know if it would have come eventually or if it was the fitting book I was reading but it happened. I'm only part way through the introduction and already I'm hooked, and maybe a little biased!

So bye bye sleep I am about to read a book I've saved for a perfect moment to read......that perfect moment just had to be 12.30am!!

Sweet Dreams

What Goes Around Comes Around….

When I say this I don’t mean in a karma way (although I do believe in that too!) this for me is about the style revolving door. Let me explain…. When I was young I would always hear my mum say things like “oh I had a pair of those in the 80s” and “I’ve still got one of those in my wardrobe” for years I was baffled as to what she was going on about until a few years ago and I noticed the style trends that kept reappearing! At the age of 22 I can’t say I’ve graced this earth long enough to see the beginning of trends but I am here to see their return. From pedal pushers to denim jackets, style for the decades kept reappearing and I found myself saying those infamous words “oh that’s back in now?”

My earliest memory of styles making a reappearance was the leather jacket trend. Now I’m not talking about any leather jacket, I’m talking the coloured leather jacket!! I was 10 years old and shopping with my mum for my school disco outfit (at the age of 10 this was on the same scale as Kate Middleton shopping for her wedding dress!) it had to be perfect. I had the outfit I just need the jacket and as I stepped into Tammy Girl I saw it…..on the far wall there it was a metallic pink leather jacket! I was sold! I begged my mum to buy me it promising to wear it all the time and how much of my wardrobe it would go with. It worked she bought me it and I sat on the bus the whole way home taking peaks at it every few minutes. Disco day couldn’t come quick enough and as I pulled on that leather jacket I felt like Sandy from Grease except minus the big hair, black skin tight leggings and cigarette hanging from my lips! But I’ll never forget that leather jacket. I still think of it and giggle when I see a spread in Glamour or Cosmo with a leather jacket feature.

If I’ve learnt anything from my fashion past it would be…. it’s rare to be able to pull off a trend and look good in it and I fear my pink leather jacket wasn’t my finest fashion choice! But for that night I felt like I’d done it and I think the 10 year old in me still always wishes she kept that jacket! x

Yves Saint Laurent – Oh me, Oh my

My first experience of YSL was a Christmas present from my best friend in the form of their renowned Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radient Touch Highlighting Pen.

From the moment I took it out the expensive gold box I was hooked! The heavy, sleek casing ooze YSL chic and I passed the point of no return in the land of concealers. The smooth finish left my dark circles banished to sleepless night town and my skin glowed. Don’t ask me where I had been all this time that I never knew about this gift from the beauty gods but I’d found it now. 4 years later and Touche Éclat is a constant resident in my make up bag. The only draw back is its cost…. at £25 it is a bank breaker when you hear the last click of life but worth every penny.

A recent addition to my beauty regime (and a continuation of my love affair with YSL)  is a product I received as a sample with the latest Touche Éclat purchase. It comes in the form of Flash Radiance Skincare Brush.

I used it after my moisturizer and immediately felt my skin smooth out. The next day my make up looked fresh and light. I suffer from the 3pm make up shift and expected no different so was really surprised when checking my reflection in the lift mirror at 5pm to find my make up in check and my mascara in place. So you could say I found new levels of appreciation for this product. Appreciation that even lasted as I handed over my bank card at the product counter to pay the £35 for a replacement! It lasts for 3 months so in my view a total of 40p a day, bargain!

For expensive beauty treats Boots has to be your first stop. With my advantage card in hand I watch my points rack up with the help of these beauties! There are 144 points for the Flash Radiance and 96 points for Touche Éclat to collect. See the Boots website to get your hands on an advantage card! http://www.boots.com/en/Advantage-Card/ You will wonder how you got by with out one x

OPI Nail Varnish!

I have a major weakness for OPI nail varnish it is my equivalent of some women’s chocolate!! (don't get me wrong I love that too!) I love everything about it! The sleek bottles, funky names of each colour and the results it gives!

So you can imagine my excitement when I read in the May issue of Cosmo that they have brought out two new shades in collaboration with Serena Williams just in time for this years French Open. The new lineup includes a tennis ball yellow/gold and a black shatter coat which produce an edgy, cracked effect!

My bank card started to quiver at the thought of these amazing shades. The cost is slightly pricey but worth it for the lasting, bottomless bottle! Their website offers a try shade section to show you what the shade you have chose will look like! http://www.opi.com/

Once you buy one bottle you will be an OPI convert for life! x
